New schedule of open/closed days beginning 7/7/20. For the last part of the season, which should run until first week or so of August 2020, we plan to be OPEN: Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, (7:30am-1:00pm) and CLOSED: Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Hours and days could change in event of weather, being picked out, or other unforeseen circumstances, so always check this page before coming out to be sure we are open. There are so many ripe figs this week that we are not likely to get picked out, but you never know, that could change any day. CELESTE FIGS WILL BE OVER IN ABOUT 10 DAYS, so pick yours soon or you miss out. Lots of veggies will still be available for picking, but as the summer heat continues, some of them quit producing. Tomatoes will not set any more fruit, but will ripen the fruit that is there. Peppers, okra, sunflowers and zinnias love the heat. Thornless blackberries are all over except for the last 2 varieties which produce late summer, but there are not very many of them. Will still post the yellow sign here and on Facebook the day before we open so you know what will be available the next day. And as always, pickers will still need to check in before 12:30pm to pick, weigh and pay before our 1:00pm closing time.
Will be open Wednesday, June 17, 2020 (7:30am-1:00pm). The 12 lb. box of blackberries you see pictured here was picked by a customer today, but she had to really look high and low and under leaves for them. There are still scattered berries to pick, but peak season is history and plants are just ripening the existing berries from red to black. Mid-Pride peaches are bearing now, and they are having a good year--freestone with great peach flavor. Please see yellow sign pictured here for what you can and cannot pick tomorrow. For sale in the market, we will have Mid-pride peaches, eggplant, tomatoes, (green, red, and yellow grape) red cabbage, beets, cantaloupes, onions, fresh-shelled purple-hull peas, watermelons (red meat and yellow meat). Squash for sale: butternut, spaghetti, scallop, Delicata and yellow squash and maybe zucchini. Please bring scissors or clippers for cutting flowers (and certain vegetables), but please get instructions from the cashier on where to cut the flower stems so the future blooms can still grow. For picking, please arrive before 12:30pm so you can pick, weigh and pay before our 1:00pm sharp closing time. Farm is open tomorrow (Tues 5/5/20) 7:30am-1:00pm. Lots of thornless blackberries ripened in the last two days, but we will still limit each picker to one quart zip-top bag. A second variety of blackberries will ripen in about 10 days, and soon after that the other 3 varieties will be ready. Tomorrow we will have these vegs for U-Pick: kale, dinosaur kale, beets, Napa cabbage, brussel sprouts, collards, green onions and a few carrots. Pre-picked in the market will be: lettuce, red & green cabbage, 1015 onions, nectarines, red potatoes (dug today) and a few blackberries. Thanks everyone for maintaining your social distance but still coming out to enjoy the side open skies of Waller, Texas.
