It's grape and fig picking time! More figs are ripening every day, and Saturday 7/31/21 will be the FIRST day of Muscadine Grape picking ever on this farm. Please visit the homepage on this website and scroll down to "Berry and Grape" picking tips so when you come out you will know what to look for. Figs, Grapes and Blackberries can all be picked in the same box.For U-Pick: Black "Supreme" muscadine grapes, Bronze "Fry" muscadines, Celeste Figs, LSU Purple Figs, LSU Gold Figs and Magnolia Figs. ALso U-Pick Vegs $2.00/lb.:Curly kale, dino kale, lots of heirloom Green Velvet okra, and peppers. VERY FEW blackberries left. Now that fig season has begun, our schedule shifts to only be open about 3 days a week, (Usually Tues, Thur, Sat, unless rain interferes) so more produce has time to ripen for the open days. This week hours: Tues 7/6/21, Thur. 7/8/21, and Sat. 7/10/21, 7:30am-1:00pm. Tomatoes will only last on the vine for another week or so. Celeste fig harvest began last week, so more will ripen every day for a few weeks. A very few LSU Gold figs were picked Tuesday, so they aren't far behind. Delicious thornless Freedom blackberries ripe for the earliest pickers. (READ: get here early if you want blackberries). Okra is branching out, so more to pick now. Slender Japanese type eggplant, and classic oval shape eggplant are going craz-y ---plants are soooo loaded, they need pickers desperately. Kids enjoy pulling the carrots, and peppers are loving the hot summertime. Curly kale and dinosaur kale are easy to pick now that they are taller. We're open even if it's raining, but no picking during lightning. Sorry, no picnic area. Last year, our season ended 7/23/2020, and we are not sure when the 2021 season will end....All depends entirely on weather and customer participation. So don't wait too long or you miss out 'til next year! |
