more berries & vegs are ripening now

5/12/2021

Projected schedule for the next few days: Open Thur 5/13/21 and Saturday 5/15/21, and possibly Friday 5/14/21 if we don't get picked out Thursday. On open days, our hours will be the usual 7:30am-1:00pm, and require pickers to check in before 12:30pm so they may pick, weigh and pay before out 1:00pm closing time. Sunday 5/16/21 is still too far in advance to say if we will be open or not. The second blackberry variety (Traveler) is starting to ripen, so we will be opening additional rows for picking soon. More veggies are also maturing and ripening, so now we offer these until they get picked out: Yellow squash, zucchini (yellow & green), kale (reg. and Dino), Napa cabbage, eggplant, sweet banana peppers, jalapenos, a few bell peppers. Still a week or two til ripe tomatoes. Please bring your garden shears to pick sunflowers, zinnias and eggplant. See "Home" tab on this website for pricing, picking boxes, etc. We love to see the re-usable berry picking boxes come back again and again for another date stamp and farm adventure. Some of them are on the 4th year and they are starting to look like passports! Thank you for supporting our farm.

When picked according to the directions on the sign, one kale plant can keep producing all summer, so that by mid-July, the plant looks like a small palm tree, as seen in the adjacent photo from last year.

Since customers picked off the lower leaves, and left the top intact, this kale plant produced many kale leaves well into the late summer/fall 2020.

Sweet banana peppers are at their prime when at least 6 inches long, and bright yellow with no purple on tip. The purple tip means the pepper is still growing and needs a bit more time to mature and sweeten. photo 5-12-21
