New schedule of open/closed days beginning 7/7/20. For the last part of the season, which should run until first week or so of August 2020, we plan to be OPEN: Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, (7:30am-1:00pm) and CLOSED: Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Hours and days could change in event of weather, being picked out, or other unforeseen circumstances, so always check this page before coming out to be sure we are open. There are so many ripe figs this week that we are not likely to get picked out, but you never know, that could change any day. CELESTE FIGS WILL BE OVER IN ABOUT 10 DAYS, so pick yours soon or you miss out. Lots of veggies will still be available for picking, but as the summer heat continues, some of them quit producing. Tomatoes will not set any more fruit, but will ripen the fruit that is there. Peppers, okra, sunflowers and zinnias love the heat. Thornless blackberries are all over except for the last 2 varieties which produce late summer, but there are not very many of them. Will still post the yellow sign here and on Facebook the day before we open so you know what will be available the next day. And as always, pickers will still need to check in before 12:30pm to pick, weigh and pay before our 1:00pm closing time.
OPEN Tues. 7/7/20 (7:30am-1:00pm). MASKS ARE REQUIRED in the market and check-in/out area, but optional in the field. Celeste figs still in peak for another week or so, depending on the weather, so seriously don't wait long if you want any. Other 3 fig varieties just barely starting to ripen, but we don't have as many of those trees as we have Celeste. Sunflowers and zinnias really cranking out the blooms now. Lots of veggies doing well, but as average temps rise, some won't be around for long. Peppers, okra and purple-hull peas love the heat, so they grow fast now. Our last variety of thornless blackberries is ripening now, but get here early if you want to get any. For sale pre-picked in the market, we have lots of delicious Freestone Peaches for sale by the pound or box, fresh-shelled purple hull peas, spaghetti squash, butternut squash, delicata squash, cushaw, Fairytale pumpkin, watermelons (yellow and red meat), cantaloupe (Dove and Pecos-type),onions, a few tomatoes, and more. Be sure to bring your clippers for flowers and some of the veggies. And as always, if you want to pick, please check in before 12:30pm so you can pick, weight & pay before our 1:00pm sharp closing time. See you soon!
Great 4th of July crowd! Closed Sun. 7/5/20 & Mon. 7/6/20. Back open Tues. 7/7/20 7:30am-1:00pm. Lots of figs to pick Tuesday! Will post more info here on Monday about what will be available Tuesday. Happy July 4th!
Open July 4, 2020 (7:30am-1:00pm). Pickers must check in before 12:30pm to pick, weigh and pay before our 1:00pm sharp closing time. NEW: Please wear masks in the market and check-in area, but not required in the fields as long as you keep 6' distance between parties. With our wide-open spaces, 12' between all 49 berry rows, 20' between fig rows and about 6' between veg rows, it's easy to maintain social distance. There will not be another time this year with as many ripe figs as we have right now. We have 150 Celeste trees, in their peak season and loaded with hundreds of pounds of ripe figs. We have about 60-90 trees of each of the other 3 varieties, (LSU Purple, LSU Gold, & Magnolia) just beginning to ripen. See the yellow sign pictured here for what we have for U-Pick. Purslane is on the list for the first time, and eggplant has returned to the "OK TO PICK" list. Prepicked in the market: Lots of Freestone Peaches, Watermelon (red and yellow meat, all with seeds), cantaloupe, tomatoes, fresh-shelled purple-hull peas, squash (Delicata, Butternut, Spaghetti, Cushaw) and more. Sorry, we don't have picnic facilities, and don't allow coolers in the fields. NO PETS. No outside containers/bags/buckets, etc. may be brought in--we have containers to pick in. Wagons are encouraged, and please bring your shears for cutting flowers and some of the veggies. Sorry, we are unable to transport anyone to and from the fields, and it is a fair distance to walk, so plan accordingly. Wishing everyone a happy and safe 4th of July!
Closed Thurs 7/2/20 & Friday 7/3/20. Open 7/4/20 7:30am-1:00pm. More info will be posted Friday about what will be available on Saturday July 4th.
