frequently asked questions
When are you open?
Typical season opens late April or early May, and runs thru early August, totally depending on the weather. The farm is closed the rest of the year and the public is not allowed at that time. Hours and availability of Pick-Your-Own is subject to change without notice.
What can we pick there?
Thornless blackberries, figs, veggies and zinnias are available for Pick-Your-Own in season.
Is everything available for pick-your-own?
No, not all produce is available for Pick-Your-Own. Peaches, plums and nectarines, etc. are NEVER available for the public to pick, but we offer them pre-picked in our market. In season, we offer the following for Pick-Your-Own: 3 miles of thornless blackberries on fences, and vegetables, figs, and zinnias.
Is your farm organic?
Many of our practices are organic, but we are not certified organic. For pest control, we use (organic) Neem Oil, and some plant-based contact killers such as pyrethrins which leave no residual. We also use parasitic and beneficial insects. Bee hives are located in the back corner of the property and we are careful to support them as they are the main pollinators for our blackberries.
Is the whole farm open to the public?
The picking fields and the Farmer's Market are the ONLY areas that are open to the public.
How late can we arrive and still pick?
Pickers must arrive at least 30 minutes before closing time, and pick, weigh and pay before closing time. Hours and availability of Pick-Your-Own are subject to change without notice.
Do you have restrooms and a hand sink?
We have a porta-pottie near the parking lot, and a sink for hand-washing on the east side of the market.
Can we bring a stroller or wagon?
Yes, you may bring your own stroller or wagon. Off-road-type strollers with large wheels work best.
Do you have a picnic area?
Sorry, we don't have a picnic area.
What should we wear?
Closed-toe shoes are recommended, along with hats and sunscreen. We lost quite a few of our shade trees to the recent drought, so shade is a rare commodity here. As an amenity for customers for the 2020 season, we constructed a large tent about a month ago, and one week later, a tornado came through and crumpled it up like a pretzel. So it will be a good idea to wear a hat!
What types of payment to you accept?
We accept Cash/MC/Visa/ Discover/Amex/SamsungPay. No checks, please.
Can we bring our own scissors for cutting flowers and some veggies?
Yes, you may bring your own scissors, but we are not responsible for any injury that may result from them. For safety reasons, we only furnish round-nosed kindergarten scissors for your use.
Can we bring pets?
Sorry, no pets except for legally permitted service animals are allowed on the farm.
